Vass H Series Electrobar

  • Superior 'Sandwich' Type Construction
H-Series 'Feeder' and 'Bolt-On' Busways all use 'sandwich' type construction to provide superior strength and voltage drop characteristics even at low power factors.

  • High Corrosion Resistant Casing
The casing of the Vass Electrobar H-Series Busway has been carefully designed to minimize hysteresis and eddy current losses. The casing is manufactured from heavy plate zinc coated steel and/or structural aluminium plate, with additional strength provided by heavy duty bracing channels. An optional stainless steel casing can also be supplied.

  • Polyester Finish
Vass Electrobar H-Series Busways are enhanced by the use of a polyester powder coated finish. The polyester powder coating process is fully automated with controlled electro-static application of the coating and baking ovens.

Our automated powder coating plant is one of the most modern in the industry and allows us to constantly monitor the quality of the coating process and allows for changes of colour to occur with short lead times.
The polyester powder coat used, provides a very tough and durable finish. Its impact resistant nature results in less need for touch-ups after installation. Excellent resistance to ultraviolet (UV) light breakdown ensures constant protection for both indoor and outdoor applications for many years after installation.

  • Earthing
As well as the casing, Vass Electrobar H-Series Feeder Busways incorporate an external earthing conductor (unplated, natural finish) attached to the casing running along the entire length of the Busway and across the joint. This allows for earth connections anywhere along the run. Where the casing is manufactured from non-ferrous materials, an external earthing conductor may not be necessary.

    The earthing conductor has been tested to 40kA(rms), 88 kA(peak) and 60 kA(rms), 132 kA(peak) for 1 second.

  • Reliability and High Fault Current Withstand Capability
Vass Electrobar H-Series Busway fault current withstand capabilities have been tested up to 100 kA (220 kA peak) for 1 second and 80 kA (176 kA peak) for 3 seconds according to the standards set out in AS3439.2 and IEC60439-2.

  • Low Temperature Rise
A significantly lower temperature rise at rated current is achieved through superior design and larger cross-sectional area of the conductors. Busway Standards AS3439.2 and IEC 60439-2, specify a maximum temperature rise above 40°C ambient of:

    - Copper conductors: 70°C
    - Aluminium conductors: 55°C
    - Outer casing: 55°C

  • Low magnetic Flux Density
The Vass Electrobar H-Series Busway magnetic flux characteristics have been fully tested. The tests were conducted with the Busway in the most unfavourable position. Thus it is very important when comparing the magnetic flux densities of other Busways, that the test arrangement be known, since other configurations may artificially improve test results by a significant amount.

  • Insulation
All busbars are insulated using Class B insulation. This allows for a continuous maximum operating temperature of 130°C, with a short-time temperature rating of over 200°C.

Vass Electrobar H-Series Busways have all their conductors fully enclosed in three (3) continuous layers of moulded insulation, which ensures long life and high dielectric strength.

  • Expansion
Vass Electrobar H-Series Busway joints are designed to accommodate the small amount of thermal expansion generated between each Busway length.

Therefore NO expansion fittings are necessary for this purpose. Expansion fittings are available when the Busway crosses a building expansion joint. If flexible Busway supports are used then expansion fittings may not be necessary.

  • Factory Prepared Joint Surfaces
Tests have shown that plating does not improve the performance or reliability of properly designed and installed copper or aluminium joints. All Vass Electrobar H-series Busway conductors are supplied as standard in their natural (unplated) state. Joints are supplied to site, protected by dust covers and ready for use without further preparation.
Plated Busbars can be supplied if at all required.

  • Voltage Drop Considerations
The very Low Impedance of the Vass Electrobar H-Series busway is ideal when voltage drop is critical. The Busway systems exhibit excellent voltage drop characteristics on applications requiring high currents and long route lengths.

  • Low Noise
The conductors and insulators of Vass Electrobar H-Series Busway are rigidly held by the casing and there is almost no detectable noise when energised.

  • Unique Adjustable Section
Vass Electrobar H-Series Busways are the only system to feature the unique Adjustable Busway Section, which has been designed to facilitate installation.

In the past, one of the limitations of Busways has been that their length cannot be adjusted on site. This has resulted in additional costs caused by the need to manufacture site-measured pieces, delays in installation and interruptions to building schedules.

The Adjustable Section for the H-Series Busway ensures easy length adjustment on site to absorb the dimensional discrepancies in the location of equipment connected to the Busway or those of the building itself. The range of adjustment is + 50mm per section.
